Your Guide to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter

Whether you’re a total Potterhead or not, you’ll be amazed at The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. We’re given a reprieve from the standard over-the-top cheesy theme park decor with this incredibly accurate depiction of Hogsmeade and Hogwarts (at least, to the movie). If you’re looking for Diagon Alley, you’re about 3,000 miles off (it’s in Universal Orlando) but that doesn’t make Hollywood’s version one iota less incredible. Here’s your complete guide for Universal Studios Hollywood’s Wizarding World of Harry Potter:

Shopping

Dervish and Banges

Ready for Quidditch season? Grab your quaffle and broomstick at Dervish and Banges, but watch out for the Monster Book of Monsters!

Ollivander’s

Dusty boxes perch haphazardly on the shelves of Ollivander’s wand shop where you can take a piece of the magic home for yourself. Pick up an Ollivander’s wand, a Harry Potter character replica wand, or even an interactive wand that will allow you to cast spells around Hogsmeade.

Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods

As you disembark from Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, make your way through Filch’s Emporium of Confiscated Goods for Maurader’s Maps and a collection of clothes and accessories to rep your Hogwarts House.

Hogsmeade Station

Show your love for everyone’s favorite train platform with 9 3/4 apparel and gifts to bring home.

Honeydukes

Admit it – you’ve always wondered what a Fizzing Whizsbee tastes like. Stock up on these, chocolate frogs, and acid pops for your next sweet indulgence.

Zonko’s Joke Shop

In need of a Weasley-approved practical joke? Zonko’s has everything you need – plus Pygmie Puffs!

Owl Post

Pick up your owl before term begins! You can also purchase postcards, stationary, and writing implements to let everyone know how much fun you’re having at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter.

Gladrags Wizard Wear

Pick up a replica of the dress Hermione wore to the Yule Ball!

Wiseacre Wizarding Equipment

Need to get sized for your official house robes? Look no farther than Wiseacre Wizarding Equipment!

Where to Eat

Three Broomsticks

Visit our favorite trio’s Hogsmeade haunt for British food that’s actually filling. Be sure to check out the high ceilings – it feels like you’ve been transported straight into the movie!

Hog’s Head Pub

Get hot butterbeer here without having to wait in the lengthy Three Broomsticks line. If you’re over 21, add a shot (or two) of fire whiskey for a delicious treat.

Magic Neep

This card offers quick refreshments and iced butterbeer!

Attractions

Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey

The crown jewel of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter is Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey. This will be one of the longest lines you wait in at Universal Studios Hollywood, but well worth the wait. The magic starts in the queue – it may be long but it is wonderful! Snake through Professor Sprout’s conservatory, listen in some portraits conversing with each other and catch up with Harry, Ron, and Hermione in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom. The ride itself is unlike anything I’ve been on before – not quite a roller coaster, but by no means a slow in-the-dark ride.

Fun Fact: the desks in the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom are real props from the movies!

Flight of the Hippogriff

This family-friendly coaster may not have any big drops or especially speedy moments, but the wait is usually very short.

Shows

Ollivander’s

Does the wand really choose the wizard? Catch a show of a young witch or wizard trying out new wands to find out.

Frog Choir
